EarthBound fans rejoice because the beloved classic, alongside EarthBound Beginnings is set to release on Nintendo Switch later today for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Mother has enjoyed a loyal following since its first release in the early eighties and, now, new gamers will be able to download and play it at free later this afternoon.

If you’ve never had the pleasure of playing this series Earthbound Beginnings (or Mother as it’s referred to as in Japan) can be described as the very first game in the series and tells an account of Ninten who is a 12-year-old boy with psychic abilities who traverses America in search of songs to ward off any alien invasion. EarthBound/ Mother 2 is the direct sequel to the first game with a similar storyline, but it is based on the main protagonist Ness instead.
