Avatar 2: Jake and Neytiri Started a Family, Including an Adopted Human

After securing the night of Pandora and the moon of Pandora, what’s left to do other than to have a few children and get settled? This is at least the issue James Cameron’s Avatar 2 is betting on. In a recent interview, the film’s producer Jon Landau (Titanic, Avatar), Empire released new details about the previously human Jake Na’vi Neytiri’s newest mixed-species family.

The family now comprises three Na’vi children: Neteyam (Jamie Flatters), Tuktirey (Trinity Bliss) and The Lo’ak (Britain Dalton). In addition, the family has also adopted an human son, Miles Sorocco, also known as “Spider,” played by Jack Champion. Take a look at the official teaser image of Spider in the tweet below.

The mixed-species dynamic is expected to be a key element in the conflict between families through Avatar 2.

“Jake admitted him, however Neytiri always believed that he was one of those who destroyed her family home and killed her father.” Landau told Empire. “So you’ve got the whole dynamic that are playing out.”

Landau has also compared the family’s composition to real-life mixed-race families that are learning to manage social issues of race.

“If you take a look at the work Jim writes in his films the scripts he creates are universal themes that go further than the theme of any single film,” Landau said. “This time the focus is on Jake along with Neytiri and creating the most universal theme all around the two of them. This is family. Jake is to the human realm, Neytiri from the Na’vi world. This makes them the modern day mixed-race couple having children who may believe they aren’t part of the same world or to another.”

Avatar 2 is set to be released on the 16th of December 2022 following 13 years of development and numerous delays. We saw a similar glimpse of the Spider character this week, after Avatar’s oficial Avatar’s Twitter page as well as EW released four brand new images from the set of the film including one which featured Jack Champion partially submerged in the water, receiving instructions from Cameron.

Filming for Avatar 2 and 3 previously ended in September. Avatar 3 is due out on the 20th of December in 2024. Avatar 4 in December 2026 as well as Avatar 5 in December 2028. Sometime in 2022, Ubisoft plans on releasing Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora which is the video game adaptation an open-world first-person action game.
